The white spacer is on top of the Needle E-Ring and so it prevents the needle from going the spacer thickness higher. The spacer is sandwiched between the E-Ring and the "height limiting" Jet needle plate.
Note: The slide pushes the needle down, against the force of a COIL SPRING that on return, pushes the needle up.
